Cora is 2 months old already! Wow. And she was very happy and gave me lots of smiles during the photo shoot! Here are 2 of my favorites.
She has changed so much in the last month it is amazing. She is tipping the scales at over 10 and a half pounds now! Which is 5 lbs more than when we brought her home from the hospital. At her 2 month check up appointment almost a week ago she was 20 3/4 inches long (6th percentile), her head was 14 3/4 inches around (21st percentile), and she was 10 lbs 5 oz (44th percentile!). Her weight has gone from the 3rd percentile to the 44th, which is pretty impressive. Now she just has to catch up on her height...or maybe she got the short genes from her mama. She also did really well with her first set of shots at the doctor. Even when she is screaming she is still so cute! And as soon as I picked her up and held her she stopped crying.
She is so much more interactive and awake during the day looking at everything around her. She loves lying on her play mat looking at the toys and kind of grabbing at the rings (more so if her hands happen to touch them she will grab on). We recently got a toy bar for her to look at on her changing table and a mobile in her crib, so she has plenty of things to look at in the places she likes to hang out. Additionally, she is holding her head up much more and even though it is still pretty wobbly, she likes to look around as we hold her sitting up or in our arms.
She is sleeping more at night and less during the day, which is great. For a while she was going about 4 or 5 hours between feedings at night and 3 hours during the day. It was so regular I could really count on having a couple hours after her eating to get stuff done during the day or drive home from Bozeman, etc. However, about 2 weeks ago she started eating more frequently mid day and in the evening and sleeping for a bit longer at night. Lately a typical night and day has been going something like this...
Last feeding for the night is usually between 9 and 10pm. She falls asleep quickly, but usually likes to be rocked until mostly asleep before being set down in her crib. Occasionally she will wake up and need to be rocked again before falling fully asleep. I usually get to sleep around 10:30pm or so and she will wake up between 2am and 4am to eat again. I'm usually up for 45 minutes to an hour or so with her. Then she will wake up again to eat between 6am and 8am. After that hour up with her, she and I usually go back to sleep until the next time to eat between 10am and noon. Sometimes during this late morning time I'll take her upstairs with me and we snuggle together in bed. So all in all I usually end up with 8-10 hours of sleep in 3 chunks, which is great! Two nights ago she went 7 hours between eating, from 9pm to 4am! But more often it's 4-6 hours at night. Also, right now I'm not working and don't have to be functional in the mornings most days so I can sleep those few extra hours, just like sleeping in on the weekend pre baby! When I go back to work in 3 and a half weeks I'll have to get up after the 6-8am feeding, which means I think I may need to start going to bed earlier. Of course, who knows what her schedule will be like then.
In any case, then around 10 or 11am I'll be able to get a shower in sometimes before she is really awake and hungry. Or even if she is just waking up, I can put her in her bouncy chair outside the shower and she'll look around, chew on her hands, and make some noises being very patient as I get myself ready for the day. Cora is definitely a patient girl. She gives us fair warning when she is getting hungry or tired and I try not to push the limit too much. I also try to get some quick breakfast/lunch and tea ready before feeding her at that 11 or noon time so that I'm not starving by the end of it. Then Cora is pretty awake from around 11am until 3pm. She likes to lie on her play mat, go for walks (which usually puts her to sleep), snuggle with mom, etc. During this time she will eat every hour to hour and a half and maybe fall asleep for half an hour or so, but not much. But after that feeding at 2-3pm she will usually conk out and sleep until 5-6pm. Then she gets back on the hourly feeding schedule and awake period until about 9pm. We give her a bath about twice a week during this evening time when she has a relatively full belly and she has really started loving the water and bath time! On days we go to Bozeman (which is usually once a week on Thursdays to go to this mom's group at the library and then buy some groceries, etc.) she will end up sleeping most all day in her car seat only waking up to eat every 2-3 hours. Those days always throw things off a bit. But generally I feel like I'm able to get enough sleep and I feel like Cora has definitely been able to distinguish night from day and is more awake now than she used to be, which is fun.
Here are several of the many photos from the last month...it's so hard for me not to put all the photos up! I know not everyone loves to look at a zillion pictures of my kid, like I do though. :) It is just amazing how much bigger she has grown in this time! I've already gone through and pulled out a lot of the clothes that are in these pictures because they are now too small!
Snuggling with our girl all swaddled before bed.
Interacting on the changing table, one of her favorite places to give smiles and look around.
Being burped by dad post bath and feeding all snuggled in a warm blanket.
Playing on her activity mat..she loves to look at her elephant and lion!
Snuggling/snoozing together in bed mid morning. Love it!
Two months old and sitting propped up unassisted! By the way, I love these pictures because I think she looks really similar to my baby pictures. And the outfit is just so cute!
Loving bath time! Instead of screaming the whole time, she is now super calm, even when we wash her neck folds and armpits.
Snuggled in her bear suit and out for a walk in the stroller.
By the way, I just love this bear suit and hope she can wear it a lot in the next month or so before it is too small!
Looking at the hanging toys over her changing table and play mat. She gets such an interested look on her face and just loves her crib mobile, the monkeys over her swing, the bouncy chair toy bar, and the changing table toy bar. I hope I'm not over stimulating her!
Passed out in her crib for a nap during the day. Her dad dressed her this day and I think she looks oddly like a South American teenage boy with the mullet and skinny jeans.
