9 months old and changing so much every day! At her 9 month old well child check up Cora weighed 17 lbs and 1 ounce (29%), she was 27 and a 1/4 inches long (30%), and her head was 16 and 3/4 inches (15%). Still a little peanut!
Her hair is still a dirty blond and has been growing a lot lately and is probably two to three inches long on the back and sticks up on the top. Her eyes are a beautiful bright blue. She now has seven (!) teeth that are making their way through...all 4 front teeth on the top and three teeth on the bottom front and right.
She is now crawling and has become quite good at it in the last few weeks! She is waving hi and bye, does "so big", and occasionally says mama and dada. She is just starting to get up to standing on her own and can stand holding on to something fairly well. It is so much fun to watch her exploring her environment and learning new things every day.
She loves playing with her toys (or other kid's toys!) and is busy, busy, busy. She is getting a bit more fiesty and opinionated and will definitely let you know when she doesn't like the situation. She fights naps during the day and only sleeps well for me if riding in the car, in the stroller, or being held. I think she doesn't want to miss anything. She smiles a lot and loves being around other kids and people. She loves baths and being outside and she loves Rooney. She is still a great eater and will eat most everything we give her, including the newest additions of lentils, pumpkin, and of course cheddar cheese.
Her daily routine hasn't changed too much from my 8 month post, however, there have been some ups and downs. She was regularly eating once a night and then it started being twice a night at 12:30am and 5am or so, which was rough. Who knows if it was teething or a growth spurt, but like I said it was rough. We went to Minnesota for a week right when she had her 9 month birthday. It was an amazing week with family and friends, but Cora was not sleeping very well at all. The week after when we were back in Montana we tried getting back into a solid routine and then at her 9 month appointment the pediatrician recommended to try letting her cry. Neil really didn't want her to learn to cry for me to come feed her in the middle of the night and I agreed to give it a try, but then she came down with a cold and fever and I didn't want to try the cry it out method when she wasn't feeling well. But functioning well on 6 hours per night of interupted sleep does not work well for me!
So, while Neil was in Michigan for the week and Vern and Rita were here helping with Cora I let her cry in the middle of the night after I had fed her and changed her and knew she was alright. I think it was about half an hour and then she fell asleep. The next night I tried the same thing when putting her to bed at 8pm. It was about 20 minutes of crying in the beginning, but tonight was less than 5! And she has slept through the night until between 6am-7am, which definitely works for me!
The weather is colder these days and a lot like winter, so we have definitely transitioned to the winter clothes and bundling when we go outside. She pretty much always wears a pair of tights under her pants and we got a very cute snowsuit that keeps her toasty warm. Pretty soon the snow will be piling up!
