Today I am 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant and things are going fairly well! I definitely feel like by belly is getting bigger, but it is that awkward stage where people can't tell that I am pregnant and probably just think I've gained a few pounds, but to me my belly feels much bigger than what I'm used to. I was reading a book about this stage that aptly states, "This is when you will be tempted to buy a t-shirt with the motto, 'I'm Not Fat, I'm Just Pregnant'." I'm sure the time will come soon enough when people can just tell that I'm pregnant with one look, but now I'm kind of looking forward to not being in this in between stage anymore.
I wouldn't say that I'm feeling great and glowing with tons of energy, like how some books describe the second trimester. The nausea went away completely around 14 weeks, but just yesterday was back in full force. After I ate breakfast yesterday and today I just feel nauseous most of the day. Hopefully it goes away again. I've had a few days with bad headaches and then I've also been feeling pretty achy in the sides and lower part of my abdomen, which everyone says is normal stretching of ligaments, etc.
The other crazy thing I've started noticing in the last week is that especially when I wake up in the night or in the morning I feel a distinct bump in my stomach, sometimes just below and to one side or the other of my belly button or sometimes lower, depending on which side I was sleeping on. As soon as I get up and walk around and then feel again it isn't there anymore. The baby is only about 5 inches long and the size of a large avocado, but I figure I must be feeling the baby! I haven' felt any certain movements yet, but a few times think that there have been some small movements that aren't gas or anything else. I think it will be so cool to finally feel it moving for sure!
I have a doctor check up on Thursday, so it will be nice to see how that goes. Here's a picture from today, just past 16 weeks.
