28 weeks

Wow, I just can't believe how fast the weeks are flying by.  It's already early November!  And November in Big Sky means winter, and winter means January, and January means the arrival of Baby Girl Johnson!

I don't think I've gotten much bigger in the last 2 weeks, but I definitely feel that the third trimester is here.  Almost as if hitting a switch, I'm feeling a bit more achy and bigger and like my stomach and intestines are running out of room already.  I'm in for the home stretch!

On Friday I had my 28 week appointment with my midwife.  They didn't tell me how much I had gained from the previous visit and I forgot to ask, but from my calculations at home, I think I've gained about 16 pounds total since my pre-pregnancy self.  If I gain about a pound a week (like they say is normal during the 3rd trimester), then that will come out right between 25-30 total, which would be great.  My blood pressure was 124/70.  Baby's heartbeat was great and it turns out she was sitting in there transverse, which means cross ways with head on one side and bum on the other side.  I can defintely tell that this is how she has been sitting lately and it is a bit uncomfortable to feel her stretching each way.  She still has plenty of time to get into the correct head down position, but I hope she at least does it at some point.

I've been having an intermittent pain under my right right rib and sometimes under my right shoulder.  My midwife says it's most likely because my intestines and stomach are squished up under there and prescribed an anti-gas.  This weekend it has helped somewhat I guess, but sitting for long periods of time seem to make it worse.  I can't imagine it is something that will be getting much better in the next 3 months and is one of many minor complaints I will have.

I also had to do the glucose testing at this appointment, which meant drinking something similar to orange cough syrup and an hour later getting some blood drawn.  I'll find out the results on it at my next appointment in 2 weeks.

Baby girl is supposed to be around 2 1/2 pounds at this point and 14 inches long.  No wonder she's pushing around in there so much!  Although for about a week from 26-27 weeks I think she turned from pushing out to down and pushing in where I didn't feel the movements much, which freaked me out a bit.  I was feeling movements everyonce in a while, but just not with the frequency I had before and not poking out like before.  I actually stopped by the medical clinic really quick one day for them to listen to the heartbeat, which of course was just fine.  I thinks she is sleeping in longer periods of 20-40 minutes now and was facing in/down.  I just need to not worry.

Here's me at 28 weeks, beginning of the third trimester!
