Baby Room!

Vern and Rita, Neil's parents, arrived last week and since I was off for the week as well we got going on setting up the baby room, which was a lot of fun!  They did all the painting to transform the room from the medium brown of our entire house to the light gray and light purple I had picked out.  It's hard picking out paint colors and I'm not sure it is exactly what I wanted, but it is very calming and looks like a baby girl's room, so that's good!  There are still a few things we have on the way (for example the recliner/glider...the wooden rocking chair normally lives in our living room when the Christmas tree isn't taking up space, etc.), but we set up the crib (previously used by the other Johnson/Holscher grandkids), dresser, and changing table, and put away all the hand me down clothes and gave things a home for now.  It just feels so much better to have things somewhat settled instead of in a big pile.

The finished product!  And yes, I painted the cartoony looking artwork hanging on the wall.  It was actually a fun wine and painting night in Denver with my Women's Retreat girlfriends last year and we weren't planning on keeping the silly paintings, but I held on to it and now the colors seem to go well!  And it's kind of funny.  Still need to do some finishing touches and decorations, but if this baby girl shows up tomorrow I'll feel good about things (even though she'll be staying in our room for the first bit).

More gifts to put away!  People are way to generous.
