Well, I started this post on Tuesday, January 19th when I was 39 weeks and 2 days. And then on the 20th I went to my 39 week appointment in Bozeman and then I didn't come back home and our new baby was born that night! So this is a bit delayed, but I'd still like to record it.
At 39 weeks I was feeling pretty good relatively, but I was definitely ready for this baby to come out. Not only was I feeling like my belly was a bit bigger than with Cora, but I was feeling like I could barely walk down the road to the mail box, put my shoes on, bend over, or do much of anything. It really is amazing that you can carry a baby inside of you, but it sure is limiting there at the end.
Neil's mom, Rita, had shown up on the 15th, just in time for Cora's 3rd birthday and her party, which was a blast. Once I made it through her party I was ready for this baby to come at any time. Rita helped me get last minute things ready in the new baby room, including putting the book shelf together and putting up the wall decor, which was fun to do.
I was sleeping relatively well, still waking up for an hour or more at night, but I wasn't all that uncomfortable. I was having quite a bit of indigestion and heart burn at night and definitely making the most of the Tums. I was at just about 24 lbs more than my pre-pregnancy weight. They recommend gaining 25-35 lbs and I don't feel like I did anything different than with Cora, but it was nice to be on the lower end of the spectrum and not feel too overly bloated or anything. I gained about 40 lbs with Cora. My fingers were a bit swollen for the past couple months, so I haven't been wearing any rings. My blood pressure was normal at 120/70 or so, so it was really nice not to have any concerns with that this time around.
I feel like overall I haven't been quite as worried about things with this pregnancy (well, I guess that is since I found out that the baby didn't have down syndrome and that the cyst was shrinking and not worrisome), but the last week or so I found myself much more worried about how often the baby was moving and if she was okay. I felt like now that I had hit 39 weeks I thought she would already be here and that any decrease in movement meant something was wrong. I would wake up at night and not feel any movements for a while and start to worry. Then I would feel something a bit later or feel the hiccups and I'd be reassured, but I was definitely more worried and just wanted her to come out to make sure she was a-okay. Luckily there wasn't anything to worry about after all!
Here I am at 39 weeks and here is the baby room at this point. At some point we'll move the queen bed out of the room and put in the crib we had with Cora, but for now I'll sleep in the bed and the baby will sleep in the pack n play. Also when we move the bed out we'll have room to move the big rocking chair in to be by the book shelf. Not sure when that transition will happen yet. It's not quite perfect, but it will do for a new baby coming home!
