20 weeks!

20 weeks or half way there!  I feel like my belly has grown quite a bit in the last couple weeks. I actually took these pictures on the evening of Tuesday, September 4th, the night before I was officially 20 weeks (since we were driving all day Wednesday) and now it is Sunday, September 9th and I think my stomach is even bigger!  Nothing too much to report really.  I'm fully wearing maternity clothes now and don't even want to try on any of my old clothes to avoid the physical proof that my body has gotten so much bigger than it used to be (and I've still got a lot bigger to grow!!).  Although I occasionally put on a shirt that I thought I would still be able to wear while pregnant only to find it too short or much tighter around my stomach than I thought.  Pretty soon my wardrobe will be limited even more!

I rarely feel nauseous anymore and really have been feeling great lately.  Although as I write this I have a headache and stomachache that has been lingering since breakfast.  I also had a stomachache after eating clam chowder and fish and chips at the Oregon coast last week, so it just seems to be kind of random, but usually after I eat a larger meal.  I know that I probably should be eating smaller meals more often, but I'm just used to being able to eat how I normally do and find it hard to change, especially when people around me are still eating 3 full meals a day.  But for the most part I feel pretty normal.

Neil and I drove with my parents in my car to Oregon last week, which was about a 17 hour drive each way.  Whew!  I wore leggings, which were the only thing comfortable enough to wear for sitting in the car for so long.  Neil was very obliging to stopping anytime I needed to go to the bathroom, was hungry, or needed to stretch my legs and so it really wasn't bad.  We spent about 4 days in Roseburg at my parent's house and spent some quality time with my 3 90 year old grandparents, which was quite entertaining (especially with my forgetful grandpa repeating himself and just saying the funniest things in general).  My Grandma Margie hemmed my maternity jeans and reinforced the stomach part, so that was really nice.  Now I can wear them as jeans as the weather gets colder and not only rolled up, since they were too long.

The big news this week is that our midway ultrasound appointment (and opportunity to find out the gender of the baby!) is on Tuesday, just 2 days away!!!  Neil and I are very excited and can't wait to see the baby again.  I can't believe that it has been 2 months since our last ultrasound where we got to see the baby and watch it jump around and move.  At that time it was about 3.5 inches long and now it is supposedly 10 inches long!  And if we're lucky the baby will let us know it's gender!  All of my close college girl friends and just about 90% of other people who have guessed the gender have all guessed boy, which I think is interesting.  I really have no hunch either way.  Before I was pregnant I always thought that for some reason I would have a boy and especially since we have 4 nieces I feel like there should be some male influence in this family, but because of that I think maybe it will be a girl.  So it will be a surprise for sure either way!

I'm also curious to see what my weight change will be at the doctor.  They recommend gaining 5-10 pounds by week 20 and I'm thinking that I'm closer to the 10 side.  And then the recommendation is about 1 pound a week for the next 20 weeks for a total of 25-35 pounds.  I feel like I'm eating really quite healthy, but probably could get more exercise with a 45 minute walk every day or other day being the norm.  A friend is sending me a maternity swimsuit and I'll start trying to swim a couple times a week at the local pool too.  All in all I'm sure it will work out just fine.

I'm feeling lots of kicks and movements in my lower abdomen daily and even as I'm sitting here writing this.  It definitely feels like a muscle twitch to me, but I'm sure that will change as the baby gets bigger and stronger.

Here's me at 20 weeks:
