Baby Johnson is a little girl! Neil says he's known it was a girl since shortly after we found out we were pregnant. He says he had a "girl" feeling. I definitely didn't have a feeling either way, but I'm not surprised. And we are very excited! I'm mostly excited to see this little baby girl melt my husband's heart and have him wrapped around her little finger. It is going to be so cute.
One of the manager's at work texted me this evening..."Oh Anna - yay!!! So exciting!! She'll be perfect - just like her mother!" That nearly brought tears to my eyes. Of course my first thought was, "She's going to think I'm so annoying!" Neil says not at least until she's 13. :)
The ultrasound tech was nice enough to get the suspense over right away before taking all of the other pictures that they needed. She said several times that she kept seeing that it was a girl, so she was pretty darn sure. She then took pictures of her belly, her head, her bones, spine, arms, legs, feet, and I think maybe some internal organs, like bladder, stomach, kidneys. However, she couldn't get a good picture of the heart like she wanted because baby girl was not cooperating in how she was positioned. She poked my stomach trying to get the fluid to move her around, but it didn't work. The baby was also lying on top of the place that the umbilical cord attaches to the placenta, so she couldn't get a good view of that either. Therefore I need to go back for another ultrasound in a few weeks. She said that she wasn't concerned about anything at all (she weighs 13 ounces, heart beat was 145, and everything looks good), but she just needs to get a better picture. So I'm going back for that on October 8th and we're excited to have another opportunity to see our baby kick and squirm around! We did get a few pictures to take home, but they weren't quite as good as the 12 week profile pic. Still cute though! I just can't believe that she is almost 1 pound! And that she has several more pounds to put on in the second half of the pregnancy.
Afterwards we met with the midwife for the regular check up. My blood pressure was a little lower than normal at 110/62, which she said was fine. I had gained 2 pounds again, which has been consistent with every visit. She says gaining weight slowly and steadily is perfect. I asked her a few questions that I had (if cramps in my calves when I wake up in the morning is normal...yes, and may get worse, etc.) and she listened to the heart beat on the doppler. But that was about it!
Once Neil and I went out to the car I wanted to take a couple pictures to document the occasion. That morning I had made two signs...one saying It's a Boy! and one saying It's a Girl!. We grabbed the girl sign and attempted to take a photo on my phone of ourselves. It took about 3 attempts to get a good one, with the wind blowing the paper and not cutting off the words, etc. A woman walking by came over and was like, do you guys want some help taking your photo?? It was really sweet.
Now we get to focus on baby girl names and picture this little girl joining our family in just a few months! Of course Neil is already showing his concern for our child...whenever I say something about how curious I am to see her and I wonder what she'll look like, Neil says, "I just hope she's a healthy little girl." Of course I do too! But I just can't wait to see her! :)

I couldn't be more excited! And it's fun to hear that Neil knew you're having a girl. Love to you all!
